Alcohol can be seen as a way of celebrating and being sociable; as a symbol of the blood of Christ….Taking alcohol is certainly an ancient custom. But alcohol can of course be problematic. Just take a stroll round any city centre at 11PM on a Friday or Saturday night and you’ll see the evidence. And in the Islamic tradition and in some Christian denominations alcohol is forbidden.
