Maryam Bham

Honorary PhD Scholar

Maryam is a member of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge and commenced her PhD studies in October 2022 at the Faculty of Education. She is an Honorary PhD Scholar at the Woolf Institute since March 2023.

Her research complements the continuing discourse on religion in the British education system and explores how British Muslim Primary teachers experience their personal and professional identities in schools in Britain. Her analysis further looks at how individual perceptions and connections relate to how Muslim Primary teachers experience the construction of their identity, and how this is reflected in their everyday working environment.

She has a BA in Early Childhood Studies and Linguistics, an MA in Islam in Contemporary Britain and a PGDE in Educational Leadership. She holds a Qualified Teacher Status and has worked in the field of education for the past 16 years, both, nationally and internationally.

Maryam's academic pursuits in the field of faith and education are met by an interest in, and an engagement with, interculturality and inclusion in education.
