Overview

Trust in public life?

A panel discussion Trust in Public Life will be held at the House of Lords in Committee Room G on the 21st January at 5.15pm.

This will be the first in a series of three panel discussions which aim to generate public discussion about how to restore trust in various areas of public life: trust in public life (Government and public institutions), trust in business, and trust in religious leadership. The panel-series has developed directly from our pan-European 3 year research project analysing how character and trustworthiness are assessed in different socio-economic contexts.

The Trust in Public Life panel on 21st January will be chaired by Lord Ian Blair, former Metropolitan Police Commissioner, with panellists Lord Paul Bew – Chair of the Committee on Standards in Public Life; Baroness Ruth Deech – academic, and current Chair of the Bar Standards Board; and Camilla Batmanghelidjh – charity leader, businesswoman and author.

The panel will each discuss trust in ‘public life’, followed by a Q&A session with audience members.
