Shared stories of the refugee experience in the UK.

15th March @ 17:00 - 18:00

Overview

The Woolf Institute is delighted to be partnering with the Aspen Institute UK for their upcoming event ‘Shared stories of the refugee experience in the UK’ on Wednesday 15 March as part of our work on the Commission on the Integration of Refugees.

This is the first conversation in the series ‘Voices from a Broken System: Rethinking Refugee Integration in the UK‘. The discussion will focus on the UK refugee experience. Bringing together refugees from different countries to speak about their experience in the UK, we will hear how their experiences differ and resemble each other, what has challenged them since arriving in the UK, and how they have succeeded in making the country home.

Our panel of speakers includes: Alphonsine Kabagabo, Director of Women for Refugee Women; Mishka Pillay, refugee rights campaigner & trustee at Freedom From Torture; Alina Prokopenko, Ukrainian refugee living in the UK, and Iyad Yousef, UK-based Data Analyst at Centre for Metrics originally from Syria. This productive and insightful conversation will be moderated by Yasmeen Serhan, staff writer at TIME.
