Peter Halban gained his degree in History from Princeton. In 1975, he went to live in Israel where he was the Director of Mishkenot Sha'ananim, the arts and cultural centre in Jerusalem. He later worked in publishing before returning to London.
In 1986, together with his wife Martine, he founded Halban Publishers, publishing fiction, memoirs, history and biography, books on Israel and the Middle East and of Jewish interest.
Peter is also a trustee of the Humanitarian Trust, Chair of the Isaiah Berlin Literary Trust and an Honorary Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford.
