Helaine Blumenfeld documentary to premiere on Sky Arts
On Wednesday 18 April at 10.00pm, Hard Beauty, the first major film about the life and work of sculptor Helaine Blumenfeld OBE will premier on Sky Arts.
The film, directed by the award-winning filmmaker, Rupert Edwards, follows the sculptor over the course of one year as she works on the Tree of Life: Encounter which is located in the courtyard outside the Woolf Institute.
Helaine Blumenfeld OBE is one of the most respected sculptors of her generation, regarded by some as the heir to Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Blumenfeld has created more than 90 large-scale sculptures including for the Lincoln Center (New York), Het Depot (Holland), Canary Wharf (London), The Lancasters (London) and the University of Cambridge. She was the first woman to be awarded the prestigious 'International Sculpture Prize: Pietrasanta and Versilia in the World' and in 2011 was awarded an honorary OBE for services to the arts.
