18 October 2011
Recent MSt graduate, Martin Borysek, has recently returned to Cambridge to take up a place as a doctoral student in the Faculty of Divinity. His research, under the supervision of Nicholas de Lange, will explore the context and wider significance of the Takkanot Candia. This valuable resource is made up of a collection of local laws governing the capital of Venetian Crete, providing a gamut of interesting information on the everyday life of Jews, and their interaction with non-Jews, in the Eastern Mediterranean during the medieval and early modern period.
