The Woolf Institute is at an exciting stage in its development. Increasingly centre stage in understanding forces which look set to shape world events for the rest of the 21st century, it is moving to a purpose-built building in the heart of Cambridge in September 2017. The new building will enable the Institute to increase its student numbers as well as its research on issues including end of life care and foreign policy. It will also incorporate an e-learning facility for the Institute's global audience, which includes students and academics from across the world.
As the Woolf Institute moves into a transformative phase of growth, it now seeks its first Development Director to play a pivotal role in this intensive and exciting period. Reporting to the Founder Director and a member of the senior management team, the Development Director will lead the implementation of an ambitious development strategy for growth. The post holder will be responsible for developing new, and building on existing, high-value relationships to deliver deeper engagement and significant philanthropic income. Working closely with the Founder Director and Development Council, the Director will lead on the engagement with friends of the Institute and others around the globe to realise its vision.
The Woolf Institute seeks an outstanding candidate for this position. Candidates will have a significant track record in major gifts fundraising and strong strategic skills. They will need to be a dynamic and proactive individual who inspires the confidence, enthusiasm and support of colleagues and donors. They will also need excellent administrative, organisational and project management skills and the ability to ensure that deadlines are met by themselves and others. The successful candidate will be a credible figure with high net worth individuals with the ability to command respect and gain confidence across a variety of audiences. Finally, s/he will have a passion for the aims and objectives of the Woolf Institute.
