Professor A J LevineOn Wednesday, 7 March, Amy-Jill Levine delivered a plenary lecture entitled: The Passion Narrative and the Jews: History, Hermeneutics and Homiletics. Amy-Jill Levine is University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt and an Affiliate Professor at the CJCR. Her most recent books include The Jewish Annotated New Testament, co-edited with Mark Brettler (see the report from the New York Times), and The Meaning of the Bible, co-authored with Douglas Knight. She combines historical-critical rigour, literary-critical sensitivity, and a frequent dash of humour with a commitment to eliminating anti-Jewish, sexist, and homophobic theologies.
